So what is silver bullion?
Well, quite simple, silver bullion is any silver held in its lump form, such as a bar, with reference to its value as a raw material. It’s essentially what silver is before it is manufactured or coined to be later sold. Whilst most collectors turn their attention to coins or ingots due to their uniqueness or beauty, investors prefer bullion for its raw value. Silver bars are available in a variety sizes and weights.
So what are the advantages of buying silver bullion?
There are many reasons why investors choose to buy silver bullion. Essentially it should be viewed as an alternative currency whereby, holding silver is another way of diversifying your currency risk. During uncertain times with devaluing paper currencies, silver can be used as a hedge against growing inflation. It’s also a portable form of wealth that’s accepted internationally. Equally, it may also be bought for speculation as many bullish investors expect prices to continue to climb as demand for a ‘safe haven’ grows.

The most commonly bought is the 100 ounce bar as it’s the most popular form among investors for an eventual resale. Silver is also popular among collectors and enthusiasts. Internet sites such as EBay are popular places to purchase rare and unique items.
